AceBet Returns to California and New York With Trading-Card Sweeps Coins

AceBet's October 21, 2026 terms update re-added California and New York, selling Sweeps Coins bundled with physical trading cards instead of coin packs.

AceBet updated its terms of service on October 21, 2026 to drop California, New York, Tennessee, and Idaho from its list of excluded states - adding Iowa in their place - according to an October 25, 2026 report from Sweepsy. It's a notable reversal: California's AB 831 and New York's sweepstakes ban had pushed most operators, including AceBet itself, out of both states earlier this year.

The mechanism is a workaround rather than a direct return to selling Gold Coins. AceBet now ships physical trading-card packs, priced from $5 to $500, to players in these states, with each pack bundling one Sweeps Coin per dollar spent; players can also earn Sweeps Coins for free by completing third-party surveys and app offers. AceBet's updated terms also rebrand its play-money currency from "Gold Coins" to "Virtual Coins," which the company says carry no cash value, and it's leaning on language in AB 831 that exempts promotional currency tied to a bona fide product sale.

Whether that holds up is genuinely untested. Sweepsy's own report quotes an analyst warning that regulators could treat the trading cards as a pretext if most buyers are really just paying for the attached Sweeps Coins - and neither California's Department of Justice nor New York's Division of Lottery has publicly addressed AceBet's specific model as far as we can find.

Worth disclosing here: AceBet is one of the operators we have an affiliate relationship with on this site. We're reporting the terms change and the legal uncertainty around it the same way we would for any operator - if you're in California or New York and considering AceBet's card-pack path, understand that it rests on a legal theory regulators haven't signed off on, not a settled rule change.
