Oklahoma's SB 1589 Sweepstakes Casino Ban Takes Effect November 1, 2026
Oklahoma's sweepstakes casino ban (SB 1589) becomes law Nov. 1, 2026, making operation a felony as operators like Stake.us and ACE Casino exit the state.
Oklahoma's ban on sweepstakes casinos, Senate Bill 1589, takes effect November 1, 2026, making it a felony to operate an online sweepstakes casino anywhere in the state. Lawmakers passed the bill by overriding Governor Kevin Stitt's veto in mid-May 2026 - the state Senate voted 34-10 and the House 68-19 to override - after Stitt had called the measure vague and overbroad.
Violating the new law is a Class C or Class C2 felony, carrying fines of $500 to $2,000 per offense and the possibility of prison time - among the stiffest penalties any state has attached to sweepstakes-casino operation so far. Operators have spent the weeks before the deadline pulling out rather than risk it: ACE Casino exited Oklahoma entirely on October 6, 2026, Baba Casino cut off Sweeps Coin play and redemptions for Oklahoma players on October 21 while keeping its free-to-play Gold Coin games running, and Stake.US has told Oklahoma users its platform will stop being available to them starting October 30 - a day before the ban takes effect.
Oklahoma joins a string of states that have moved this year to shut the sweepstakes-casino model out entirely rather than regulate around the edges of it, and its felony-level penalties set a notably harder line than the civil cease-and-desist approach states like Illinois and Maryland have taken so far. If other operators follow the pattern Baba Casino and Stake.US have set, expect more Oklahoma-specific account notices in the final days of October.
Worth disclosing here: Baba Casino is one of the operators we have an affiliate relationship with on this site; Stake.US and ACE Casino are not. We're reporting all three the same way. If you're an Oklahoma resident with an active balance on any of them, redeem it now - once the ban takes effect November 1, getting money out of a site that's still technically operating in the state only gets more complicated.
